Incident Command System (ICS) Training

The Sacramento County Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public Health, encourages all responders and volunteers to obtain NIMS/ICS training as mandated by the US Department of Homeland Security.  The National Incident Management System (NIMS)/Incident Command System (ICS) establishes standardized incident management processes, protocols, and procedures that all responders:  Federal, State, Local and Tribal entities will use to coordinate and conduct emergency response actions.  With all responders using the same standardized processes, protocols, and procedures, they will all share a common focus and will be able to place full emphasis on incident management when a homeland security incident occurs either due to natural disaster or acts of terrorism.

NIMS/ICS-related courses offered online by the FEMA Emergency Management Institute include:

IS-100.b - Introduction to Incident Command System
