AVATAR is a cloud-based, web-accessible Electronic Health Record (EHR) system used by Sacramento County Behavioral Health Services (BHS) and BHS contract providers for both Mental Health (MH) and Substance Use and Prevention Treatment (SUPT).

AVATAR includes Practice Management (PM) functions and Clinical Workstation (CWS).

PM contains records management information including:

  • Claiming information
  • Data for state reporting
  • Appointment scheduling
  • Perceptive Document Management - facilitates scanning non-AVATAR generated documentation into the client's electronic health record.

CWS contains electronic clinical documentation in the client's electronic health record. Documentation includes:

  • Progress notes
  • Treatment plans
  • Assessments ​
  • Diagnosis
  • Order Connect – Allows user to send electronic prescriptions and e-faxes to pharmacies that belong to the Surescripts network as well as electronic lab orders and results with Quest Diagnostics.
